Sealed product and condition
We sell factory-sealed Japanese product. This page says exactly what that means, what marks are normal on it, and what we put right.
- Shrink-wrapped
- The box still carries the outer plastic film applied at the factory. Nothing has been removed.
- No shrink wrap
- The outer film has been removed, but the box itself is closed exactly as it left the factory — the flap seal is untouched and no packs have been taken out. In English this is sometimes called “unsealed”, which is misleading. It does not mean opened. Japanese distributors often remove the outer film in transit, and boxes without it are common and normally cheaper.
What is normal, and not a defect
Japanese sealed product is made and shipped in volume. The following are ordinary and are not grounds for a return:
- Light scuffing or small dents on the corners and edges of the outer box.
- Creases, seams and joins in the shrink wrap, including the line where the film was welded.
- Faint print lines on the box, and small differences in colour or gloss between production runs.
- Slight variation in how the packs sit inside the box.
What we put right
Tell us within 7 days of delivery and we will replace the item or refund it in full:
- The box seal is broken, or packs are missing.
- You received a different product or a different quantity from the quote.
- The box is crushed or soaked in transit.
Photographs of the parcel and the box as it arrived make this quick to settle. Return postage on a fault is ours.
We do not grade sealed boxes
Some shops put letter grades on sealed product. We do not. A grade on a closed box invites the question of whether anyone opened it to look, and the only honest answer about a factory-sealed box is that we have not opened it either. We state whether the outer film is present, and we describe anything unusual about a particular box on the quote itself.
